Andreas Baltschun
film editor (BFS)
Work - Personal
I come from East Westphalia-Lippe in North Rhine-Westphalia and after studying at the Bauhaus University I chose Weimar, the European city of culture and classics, as the center of my life, where I now live with my family.
A particularly formative experience for me was the mentoring relationship with Monika Schindler, through which I was able to gain numerous valuable insights and perspectives into the art of film editing.
I have currently been working on the six-part series " HAGEN" (AT), based on the bestseller " Hagen von Tronje" by Wolfgang Hohlbein. Parallel to the series, the feature film " HAGEN – IM TAL DER NIBELUNGEN " was produced, in which I worked with

my colleague Lucas Seeberger was involved as additional editor. What is special is that both the series and the film were produced simultaneously, with each format bringing its own challenges in terms of dramaturgy and structure, as both productions have to offer a unique, visually impressive narrative.
Together with my colleague Lucas Seeberger, I was able to work on several projects, including the first two seasons of the award-winning series " DER PASS " (directed by Cyrill Boss & Philipp Stennert), for which we were nominated for both the "German Television Award" and the "German Camera Award" in the category "Best Editing Fiction" in 2022. The series also won several awards, including the "Grimme Prize" and the "German Television Award".
Another of my works is the series " DER GREIF " (directed by Sebastian Marka, Max Zähle), based on the bestseller by Wolfgang Hohlbein, which attracted a lot of attention in Germany and internationally. Here, too, I was responsible for the editing together with Lucas Seeberger.
In addition to these serial projects, I have also worked on feature films such as " FÜR ELISE " (director: Wolfgang Dinslage) or " SPUTNIK " (director: Markus Dietrich) and some films in the TATORT series, including " DER LETZTE SCHREY " (director: Mira Thiel) or currently " SCHWESTERNLIEBE" (AT) (director: Saralisa Volm). I was also able to demonstrate my skills in the documentary field, for example when working on the feature documentary " SANDMÄDCHEN " (director: Mark Michel).
In addition, I have taught part-time as a guest lecturer at the HFF Munich and am involved as a city representative for Central Germany at the Federal Association of German Film Editors (BFS).
I work primarily in Munich and Berlin, but am also happy to act as "Head of Department" for productions that would like to benefit from the Central German Media Fund (MDM).
